Responsive Parenting Workshops - Equipping families for the parenting journey

Palmerston North Parents Centre’s Responsive Parenting Workshops are designed to encourage, support and equip families with positive, ‘responsive’ and non-punitive strategies for the parenting journey.
There are 6 workshops in total, run over a 6 week course. Each workshop builds on the previous to form the overall Responsive Parenting course.
Workshop 1: Introduction to Responsive Parenting
This workshop looks at parenting in today’s society, different parenting styles, and your family’s values and goals
Workshop 2: Development and Expectations
Explores brain and social/emotional development of young children and appropriate expectations for your child/children
Workshop 3: Connecting with Your Kids
Understand the importance of secure attachment and strategies for building strong, positive relationships with your children
Workshop 4: Behaviour and Discipline
Understanding what drives behaviour and the differences between discipline & punishment
Workshop 5: Effective Boundaries
Learn how to implement effective boundaries using empathy and other supportive strategies learnt throughout the Course
Workshop 6: Communication and Guidance
Learning to guide your child using effective communication strategies including active listening, problem-solving and “I” statements
Prices
These workshops are open to all members of the public to attend. We strongly encourage couples or individuals parenting together (including grandparents if relevant) to both attend the workshops.
- $35 / couple per series (all 6 workshops in a series)
- $20 / single per series (all 6 workshops in a series)
